moj nauczychilka pani justyna guzyak tells a story about a king who got 3 sons..

Lech,Cech and Rus.

In the Polish version of the legend, three brothers went hunting together but each of them followed a different prey and eventually they all traveled in different directions. Rus went to the east, Čech headed to the west to settle on the Říp Mountain rising up from the Bohemian hilly countryside, while Lech traveled north. There, while hunting, he followed his arrow and suddenly found himself face-to-face with a fierce, white eagle guarding its nest from intruders. Seeing the eagle against the red of the setting sun, Lech took this sight as a good omen and decided to settle there. He named his settlement Gniezno (Polish gniazdo - 'nest') in commemoration and adopted theWhite Eagle as his coat-of-arms. The white eagle remains a symbol of Poland to this day, and the color of the eagle and the color of the setting sun are depicted in Poland's flag.
Other variations of Lech's name (pronounced  include: LechusLachusLestus and Leszek. Czech, orPraotec Čech (pronounced  Forefather Čech) also comes under the Latin name Bohemus orGerman Böhm, for the name is based on a pre-Slavic Celtic designation (Celtic tribe Boii, Latin form Boiohaemum that was used for Czech lands).A variant of this legend, involving only two brothers, is also known in the Czech Republic. As described by Alois Jirásekin Staré pověsti české, two brothers came to Central Europe from the east: Čech and Lech. As in the Polish version, Čech is identified as the founder of the Czech nation (Češi pl.) and Lech as the founder of the Polish nation. Čech had to climb up the mountain Říp, look to the landscape and settled with a tribe in the area, whereas Lech continued to the lowlands of the north.
A similar legend (with partly changed names) was also registered in folk tales at two separated locations in Croatia: in the Kajkavian dialect of Krapina inZagorje (northern Croatia) and in the Chakavian dialect of Poljica on the Adriatic Sea (central Dalmatia). The Croatian variant was described and analysed in detail by S. Sakač in 1940.

Republic of Poland..
Poland, now renowned as a blossoming country, is located at the centre of Europe. The neighbours of Poland are Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania and Russia. Also located in the northwest of Poland is the Baltic Sea.
Poland is the 9th largest country in Europe with 312.679 km². Moreover, the population of Poland is about 38 million mostly comprising of people below the age of thirty.
Politics: Constitution…The form of government is democratic in Poland since the 11th of November 1918. After the renovation which was in 1999, Poland got divided into 49 administrative regions. Later, the number decreased to 16. Provinces are headed by Prefecture: Wroclaw, Bydgoszcz / Toruń, Łódź, Lublin, Gorzów Wielkopolski / Zielona Góra, Cracow, Warsaw, Opole, Rzeszów, Białystok, Gdańsk, Katowice, Kielce, Olsztyn, Poznan and Szczec.
The national colours of Poland are red and white. The Polish flag also has the same colours.
The national anthem of Poland is ‘Poland has not died(Jeszcze Polska nie zginela)’. This was written by J. Wybicki and composed by M. Oginski.
Poland’s slogan is ‘Poland is the republic of family’. This slogan shows us that being family is quite important in Poland.
An important story of the political constitution of Poland…On the 23rd of October 2005, Lech Kaczynski was chosen as President of Poland. But when he was going to Russia with his team(the most important people who worked for Poland), the plane crashed and everyone died. They were Chief of General Staff Franciszek Gagor, Central Bank President Slawir Skrzypek, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrej Kremer, President of Poland in exile Ryszard Kaczorowski, President of National Security Department Aleksander Szczyglo, State Vice-Presidents Mariusz Pawel and Wypch Handzlik and the Vice President of the Parliament Jerzego Szmajdzinski. That’s why it was quite a terrible situation.  After the crash the current Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that it was one of the most terrible situations for Poland.
Economics…As an emerging economy it serves as an example of success in the transition process, since 1990, followed by a steady policy of economic liberalisation. Since May 2004, the European Union (EU) membership has contributed to the growth of the country’s increase in exports.
Climate…Of course, this is variable depending on the year. Moreover, when you see snow in winter, you may not see it during the following winter. Despite that, we generally have snow in winter, in Poland. It starts in November and finishes in March. Soon after that, we definitely see the sun! Finally! What about rain? Yes, especially in summer, you can see a lot of rain in Poland. It rains at least twice a week in summer. In Winter? It’s much more, believe us. ;) If you want to see the sun and feel hot, it’s time is in June and July. That’s better than other months. Yes, Poland is ‘a little bit’ cold a country. But really it’s so original. I never visited there but one day i will visit there.. i have read this all in sites so i put all thing togather.. whatever i found on the web.. :)
Temperature…The temperature is also ever changing in Poland as you may guess. Sometimes you see ‘+10(positive ten)’ but on another day it might be ‘-15(minus fifteen)’. Poland is generally quite cold but when it snows, it also has really great scenario. everybody must see this beautiful country.
Culture and Art…Adam Mickiewicz, Jan Kochanowski, Witold Gombrowicz, Stanisław Lem, Bruno Schulz, Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz, Jan Polkowski, Adam Zagajewski, Julian Kornhauser, Ewa Lipska and Rafal Wojaczek are really popular Polish writers. They wrote a large number of books and articles and also had great lives such that the whole world knows them. In addition, Henryk Sienkiewicz, Władysław Reymont,Czesław Miłosz and Wisława Szymborska are the writers who got Nobel Awards as Polish citizens. The most popular artist of Poland is Fredric Chopin. He had been living in the 9th century and is quite an important symbol of Poland today.
